How I got involved
by John Kinghorn
I became involved in this project through my anti capital punishment activities. Like most users of the Pro Death Penalty site, I repeated ad infinitum my views, duly ignoring most of the opposite view.
Charlene, the site owner started a chat room. Like most who went in there we kept off the traditional debate as we got to know each other better as individuals and found many areas of common ground. Some in there I chatted with, after we had posted to each other on the board almost with venom at each other, in our efforts to score points. Its' not so easy to go back and post with the same anger when you sort of know the person you have just chatted with.
Eventually the idea of From Tears To Hope was built. There has been some debate as to whose idea it was already! I know it wasn't mine, but my vote goes to Charlene www.prodeathpenalty.com, for without that chat side, we'd still be at it, hammer and tongs.
About me
I'm 51. I live in the United Kingdom. I am a Director of my own company that specialises in all matters dealing with rail fare evaders from training and apprehension to conducting independent prosecutions - also ticketing strategies and surveys. Politically I have left wing views on most things except zero tolerance, which I wholeheartedly support as proof of crime reduction wherever it is applied.
I have pen friends on death rows in the USA whom I visit on occasion, and in one case campaign for his freedom www.pennpals.org . While strong on law and order in general, I really do fight injustice wherever I perceive it.
I am not religious in the orthodox sense, but do try to live my life by Christian values.
I am proud to be associated with this venture and my colleagues in it with me, and believe we can make a difference…
