Not only is abuse ~ of children, spouse, loved ones ~ a crime, it is the most hurtful , and life altering, thing we can do to those we love. It's equally hurtful when we (family, friends, society) turn a blind eye... and do nothing to stop it. Most violent criminals have a history of being abused and/or neglected as children. Many abused children grow up to become abusers. The key to changing the cycle of violence is prevention and intervention. We must work together to save our most valuable resource: our children!
